Wildfires are a concern at Mt. Takao, a popular tourist and day trip hiking destination, as it is a part of the Wildland–urban interface of Metropolitan Tokyo, where the city meets wilderness. The local fire stations are equipped with Brush Fire units and apparatus and trained in wildland firefighting to combat forest fires and dry conditions as climate change brings on more drought and flooding conditions in the world. Mudslides are also a concern.
